On behalf of our client, an extremely reputable law firm, we are seeking a Legal Assistant who MUST have a Real Estate background and 5 to 10 years of experience. This position is accountable for providing support to high volume lawyers in the corporate/commercial department, including routine and specialized legal services.
Job Duties:
Transcribing digital dictation, creating documents from standard forms or handwritten notes, or editing various legal documents. Producing these documents requires a business vocabulary and a wide range of specialized legal terminology.
Uses word processing software to produce correspondence, agency opinion letters, agreements and share certificates from rough drafts, and edits grammar, punctuation and/or spelling,. Solid experience with documents relating to banking and commercial financing, and all legal real estate transactions.
Performs routine administration tasks such as responding to inquiries with a standard letter, and arranging meetings and seminars.
Responds to general inquiries from callers and visiting clients, redirecting calls or providing routine information requiring advanced legal and administrative knowledge of the corporate/commercial department.
Sorts, opens and distributes mail and faxes for two moderate volume lawyers within the corporate/commercial department.
Maintains lawyers calendar and contacts, schedules client appointments as directed and arranges travel schedules as necessary.
Perform client conflict checking, opening new client matters and maintains established files.
Prepare client billings, respond to billing inquiries and co-ordinate with clients or billing preferences.
Manual and electronic file maintenance.
Performs other duties as required.
