DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop & implement the cultural program for WBTC including cultural activities for youth; initiating cultural & ceremonial protocols on behalf of WBTC and working with Elders in providing expertise and guidance to the Centre.
Provides cultural support services to youth and families as part of cultural programming.
Develops, coordinates and facilitates individual and group activities on ongoing basis that ensures that youth are engaged in First Nations cultural, language and ceremony as part of their own personal and cultural development.
Plans, organizes and coordinates cultural workshops, program activities, teachings, ceremonies, healing practices and recreational activities for youth and co-workers.
Works with youth residents in classroom by helping them increase their understanding of First Nations culture, history and language including recreational programming.
Completes all required administrative and financial documentation for the implementation of the cultural & recreational program including, purchase orders, cheque requisitions, incident reports, attendance records, expense claims and budget projections.
QUALIFICATIONS
Grade 12 or equivalent AND three (3) years direct work experience in cultural/recreational programming
OR
Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Recreation, Indian/Native Studies or Social Work AND one (1) year direct work experience in cultural programming.
