The Yorkton Tribal Council is seeking one (1) highly motivated individual for the position of Culture Curriculum Consultant in the Education Department. Reporting to the Director of Education the Culture Curriculum Consultant will be knowledgeable and aware of the Saskatchewan Provincial Curriculum, including the Treaty Education and anti-racist initiatives as well as knowledgeable of First Nation history, traditions, culture and language groups.
Duties:
-Work with the Coordinator of Language and Culture, Community Consultants and YTC Curriculum consultants in Literacy, Numeracy and Science
-Work with teachers and principals to develop culturally appropriate, interesting, engaging and respectful activities
-Network within communities and other service organizations
-Coordinate information workshops at the First Nations
-Writing an activity manual for each grade indicating how culture and language can be integrated into the existing curricula and how the community language can be taught in a traditional, engaging manner that interests students
Qualifications:
-Must be knowledgeable in First Nations History and should be supported by the knowledge and understanding of First Nations language, culture, traditions and social issues
-required to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously and may be interrupted frequently
-Must be willing to travel on occasion and must posess a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle, and must submit a current Criminal Record Check.
