Description

Seeking two labourers for the Department of Transportation & Environment team. Duties are related to the maintenance of the transportation & utility distribution networks.  For job details, visit www.kindersley.ca/jobs.

Requirements
High School or GED
Valid Class 5 driver's license
Commitment to working in a team environment, with established team building abilities
Ability to lift heavy objects, walk & stand for long periods of time & perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
The following skills are preferred but not necessary:
- Ability to operate heavy equipment in a safe & responsible manner (i.e. backhoe, loader, fork-lift, 3-ton, sander unit, sewer auger equipment)
- Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods & the tools required in various Public Works processes
- Strong working mechanical knowledge of machines & tools, including their uses, repair & maintenance
- Ability to readily determine the correct tools & equipment needed to do a job
- Ability to work independently & complete duties according to work schedule
- Knowledge of workplace safety, safe lifting & handling procedures
- Experience as mechanic or equipment operator (small & heavy)
- First Aid, CPR, Fall Arrest, Ground Disturbance, Power Mobile Equipment, Confined Space Certificates

Responsibilities
Assisting with day to day functions of the department including but not limited to:
Street Maintenance: patching, crack sealing, line marking, & sweeping streets, etc.
Painting street lines, hydrants, curbs
Traffic Control: the maintenance of street signs, traffic control signs & traffic signals
Drainage: clearing debris & blockages from catch basins & removing weeds & debris from ditches
Mosquito Control
Maintain sewage lagoon, pump house & lift stations in the sewage system
Maintain curb stops, valves & fire hydrants
Sidewalk repairs
Parking lot & town yard maintenance
Perform sewer augers
Grave openings/closings at cemetary
Other duties as assigned
