Description

The Health Emergency Management Unit, Partnerships and Workforce Planning Branch in Saskatchewan Health is seeking a highly motivated, results-orientated individual to join our team as a Policy and Program Specialist.  

You will apply your analytical expertise to the assessment of a variety of complex issues, and your creativity and problem solving skills to the development and recommendation of options for addressing a range of health emergency management issues.  This position will challenge your research skills and you may be required to defend your analysis and recommendations to a wide range of individuals, groups and organizations.  The focus and type of issues you will address can include:
policy and program research, planning and evaluation, including identification / analysis of existing and emerging risks, threats, and vulnerabilities and their potential impact on the health system;
the application of trends and best practices in health emergency management to the health care system in Saskatchewan,  taking into account risk identification and management, prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery on an all-hazards basis.
business continuity leadership and planning for the ministry and the health sector;
performance monitoring, evaluation and quality assessment, and
related health research.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position will have been gained through the completion of a degree program in emergency management, business continuity management, and several years of experience working in those fields, including research, analysis and evaluation. Candidates with a combination of education and significant experience in emergency management in the health sector will be considered.
