Description

Avena Foods is looking for a productive member of the Sanitation team and ensure excellent plant sanitation. Overall responsibilities are for cleaning and sanitizing production equipment to effectively perform all duties in sanitation in an efficient and accurate manner, while following all company policies and procedures. Reporting to the Manager of Quality Assurance, all jobs will be performed safely, efficiently and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire plant in the areas of Food Safety and Quality.

    Prepare production equipment for cleaning by locking out machinery
    Operate cleaning equipment including but not limited to: floor scrubber, vacuum system, blower etc.
    Daily Housekeeping of a food production facility
    Responsible for hand cleaning production equipment; may require some disassembling and reassembling.
    Must work with maintenance to ensure the internal parts of equipment are cleaned.
    Responsible to ensure that all processing equipment is cleaned to specification of all food safety guidelines as to not pose a potential food safety risk.
    Maintain accurate sanitation documentation as needed and required
    Work with chemicals and follow chemical usage labels for application and PPEs.
    Keep work area and equipment clean and properly stored.

Skills:
    Able to work at heights, above ground level, using a scissor lift or ladder
    Able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
    Willing to learn and abide by our Food Safety and Safety Programs
    Be dependable, flexible and able to work overtime if necessary. Position will include weekend hours

Experience: Basic sanitation experience desired. Mechanical aptitude is a strong plus. Strong verbal communication skills required. Knowledge of Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP's) considered a strong asset.
