Description

Nawigizigweyas Education Centre is looking for a full time, Academic Coach. The position is to commence immediately or on a mutually agreed upon date and terminate on June 30, 2017 with a possibility of an extension.
General role: The Academic coach will deliver programming during school hours, after school and in community based tutorial sessions that will encourage home support; flexibility in working hours to meet the requirements is required. The Academic Coach is attached to the students, to ensure students stay in school and are academically successful. When working with the students, the approach focuses in four (4) key areas: Life Skills, Academic Excellence, Graduation and Post-Secondary.
Qualifications:
Mandatory qualifications include:
    Bachelor degree and/ or equivalent degree;
    Adequate and appropriate experience;
    Current Criminal Record Check (CPIC) and Vulnerable Sector Search must be provided;
    Reliable transportation and possess a valid driver's licence; and
    Other, as identified by First Nation.
Preferred qualifications include:
    Ability to speak or understand First Nation Language would be an asset;
-past experience working in a First Nation School; and
-other, as identified by First Nation

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.)

Specific Skills
 - Prepare subject material for presentation according to an approved curriculum
 - Participate in staff meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops
 - Advise students on course selection and on vocational and personal matters
