Nawigizigweyas Education Centre is looking for a full time, Grad Mentor. The position is to commence immediately or on a mutually agreed upon date and terminate on June 30, 2017 with a possibility of an extension.
General role: The Grad Mentor is to provide embedded training and support for teachers; and to improve graduation rates of Yellow Quill First Nation Students through leadership development, mentorship programs, engagement programs, and academic supports to ensure students graduate at grade level. Ensure success of Nawigiziweyas Education Centre students. Approach focuses in four (4) key areas: Life Skills, Academic excellence, Graduation and Post-Secondary.
Qualifications:
Mandatory qualifications include:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent;
The ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with all levels of staff within the Saskatoon Tribal Council; with local and provincial education partnerships and organizations; and with broad cross-section of the local community;
Strong understanding of Aboriginal Traditions, values, cultures and perspective would be an asset.
Current Criminal Record Check (CPIC) and Vulnerable Sector Search must be provided;
Reliable transportation and possess a valid driver's license; and
Other, as identified by First Nation.
Preferred qualifications include:
Ability to speak or understand First Nation Language would be an asset;
