Description

Term Position: November 2016 - December 2017

The Manager of Health, Safety & Wellness is responsible for providing complete, thorough and professional direction regarding Health, Safety and Wellness to 5 Departments and approximately 400 employees. This includes providing effective recommendations based on legislation, education, training, and best practices to City of Lloydminster employees. The Manager is to promote a positive, world class safety culture, with a vision of mission zero.

Specific duties include:
- Provide strategic health and safety supervision and leadership, regarding key areas for policy, protocol, and safety management system development
- Assist and guide City management, employees, and contractors with the compliance demands of the safety management system, governing workplace and OH&S legislation
- Provide supervision and direction to the Safety Administrator and Safety Coordinator
- Facilitate training to staff, including competencies, department specific and new hire orientations, WHMIS, and safety meetings
- Ensure incident reports are completed, assist with investigations, and ensure OH&S requirements are met
- Provide claims management by completing WCB reports and assisting in the creation of modified work plans
- Analyze workplace health and safety trends, measure program outcomes, develop and implement quality control strategies, utilizing the Simply Safety software program

Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a University Degree or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, or in a related field/discipline, or approved equivalent combination of education and experience
- NCSO/CSO (National Construction Safety Officer/Construction Safety Officer) designation is preferred
- A minimum of five years of progressive experience within Health and Safety is required
