Description

Job Summary: The Peace Keeper is a support position who is directly supervised by the Governance Director. They shall be responsible for the security on the Cowessess First Nation land including the surrounding areas and buildings and by maintaining the rules and regulations of the Cowessess First Nation. Majority of work will be done in and around the sub divisions, school area, golf course, hall and mall area, as well as patrol around the Band Office, maintenance shop and ball diamonds. Will report directly to the Justice Administrator.

Qualification:
- Ability to do enforcement duties that will include general traffic enforcement under "The Traffic Safety Act" and the associated regulations
- Perform enforcement duties in relation to the provincial legislation specified herein
- Conducting community patrols and, upon encountering a criminal offence/dangerous situation, contacting the RCMP and provide such assistance to address the situation
- Performing checks to verify compliance with curfew conditions when requested by probation officers
- Work with schools within the territorial jurisdiction as herein set out in developing, implementing and delivering programs for youth with public education and awareness of the impacts of crime and healthy alternatives to criminal activity
- The ability to keep a written diary of daily events
- Demonstrated capacity for both teamwork and self-direction
- Excellent time management skills including work and event scheduling
- Must be willing to participate in additional training when required
- The willingness to work flexible hours as directed
- Must have sound knowledge of how a First Nation is administrated and operated
- The ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Must possess own transportaiton and a valid driver's license
- Must have First Aid certificte including CPR or take training to obtain one
- Must submit drug screen testing & criminal record check (Vulnerable Sector Check) with resume
