Operations Manager
Position Overview:
The City of Prince Albert is inviting applications for the permanent position of Operations Manager in our Public Works Department. This position will be responsible to direct, control and administer operational aspects of the department, working in conjunction with front-line managers and supervisors in the operations group, including; water distribution/wastewater collection; street and roadway infrastructure construction, repair and maintenance; fleet management; and sanitation.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise, schedule and manage the performance of managers and supervisors in the Operations work group.
- Develop and recommend budget requirements for operations activities, and monitor and track expenditures.
- Implement long term and short term plans for the Operations area and provide liaison with consultants providing services in those areas.
- Analyze issues and make adjustments to operations and maintenance programs.
- Respond to inquiries from the public, media or City Council related to operations and/or other items of relevance to the Public Works Department.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
- P.Eng status with APEGS
- 5+ years progressive management experience in a municipal environment
- Strong understanding of applicable environmental reporting and practices.
- Knowledge of relevant federal and provincial regulatory acts and regulations.
- Knowledge of bylaws, policies and procedures specific to the City of Prince Albert.
- Knowledge of current OH&S standards and regulations.
- Ability to effectively use a variety of computer programs, including drafting, database, word processing , spreadsheet and presentation software.
