Description

Duties & Responsibilities:
Hire, train and supervise all restaurant staff and provide effective ongoing training for all new and existing staff as determined in the evaluation process.
Conduct performance evaluations of department staff within 90 days of employment and annually thereafter.
Implement and provide ongoing evaluation of the Restaurant Service Minimum Standards and Room Service Standards.
When required, take orders, serve customers, set tables, handle financial transactions and follow cash-out procedures etc.
Respond to guest concerns and complaints quickly and efficiently. Coordinate daily activities and schedules of all department staff.
Ensure all new employees are properly orientated and all necessary paperwork is on file prior to their first day of work.
Keep work area stocked, organized and clean at all times as defined by the task list and cleaning schedules posted in the department.
Ensure work areas and equipment are kept functional and orderly at all times, reporting any deficiencies as necessary.
Conduct regular department staff meetings
Participate in annual budget process for the Restaurant department to ensure financial objectives are met.
Prepare necessary reporting to enable evaluation of the performance of the Restaurant department.

Qualifications:
Ability to prioritize and to meet all deadlines
Knowledge of provincial liquor regulations
Extensive knowledge of provincial labour standards regulations
Extensive knowledge of WCB regulations
Strong written and oral communication skills
Must be able to perform efficiently under pressure and within time constraints
Experience in hotel/tourism sector is an asset

Work Conditions:
Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
Stand, sit or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire shift
Some physical labour and heavy lifting is required
