The Housing/Public Works Coordinator will work under the direciton of the Chief and Council and in the best interests of the Band, the Housing/Public Works Co-ordinator will ensure that:
- Tenders, bids, contracts should be prepared for all jobs, lumber, gravel, electrical, plumbing, heating, power lines should be reviewed before jobs commence
- The Housing and Renovations Policy will be guided by the Land Use and Occupancy Policy and the proper locations, i.e. near roads, water, power, plumbing, gas service etc.
- Be able to provide cost estimates for all jobs, any repairs and renovations to be done
- Completing Form 301 and all preparation/requirements of a new housing phase
- Supply accurate housing costs for accounting purposes
- Write out purchase orders for all materials
- Proper order filling and bookkeeping required ensuring that each home is within its budget
- Make a full report on progress of each or at request of the Band Council
- Supervision of maintenance staff as required
- Make sure the carpenters appointed by Band Council are working adequately
- Ensure that the homes are built up to standard, CMHC Standard, within budgtet (Good Workmanship and materials)
- Do daily routine checks on all jobs and sites
- You will be abiding by and adhering to the Standing Buffalo Band Administration and Personnel Policy and Job description approved by the Chief & Council
- Must provide a copy of a valid driver's license, CPIC and have a reliable vehicle
