On a call-in, as needed basis, this position is responsible for providing reception, clerical and administrative support for the Northern Work Prep Centre while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and careful handling of confidential and sensitive information. The Northern Work Prep Centre (NWPC) assists individuals who are seeking employment, training and careers in the trades and industrial sector as well as the service industries. The NWPC provides a variety of services for individuals looking for work and for employers looking for qualified workers.
The Administrative Assistant plays a key support role in ensuring seamless business operations and professional presentation of the Institute. These include the following accountabilities:
Greets and interacts with clients and visitors in a timely, professional and pleasant manner as well as determine nature of visitors' business and provide appropriate information
Answering the phone, transferring calls to the appropriate staff member, take messages
Receiving, sorting, and sending mail, courier packages, and faxes
Assist employees with administrative support as required
Management of the front office which includes being responsible for opening and closing the office, coordinating meeting and boardroom requests and purchasing and maintaining supplies
Required Qualifications and Experience: Certification in related post-secondary programming combined with relevant administrative and reception experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Knowledge of First Nations cultures and organizations is an asset. Must be prompt, reliable, and exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills. Prior experience working with Microsoft office suite of programs is required. Must hold a valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle.
