Description

The Saskatchewan Science Centre is seeking an intern who will review, modify and develop programming in science with a focus on Indigenous education and knowledge.
Working as part of a team you will deliver fun and interactive science- based programming.

Position duties include:
Researching Indigenous knowledge educational theories

Reviewing and revamping existing programs to include multiple ways of knowing

Educating staff on Indigenous knowledge educational theories

Developing new programs for internal and external programs which align with the Saskatchewan Curriculum and the Saskatchewan Science Centre learning goals

Facilitate and lead educational programs to schools and community groups

To be a liaison between Saskatchewan Indigenous communities (developing a contact database)

Create content highlighting innovations of the past 150 years in Canada

Participate in the planning and implementation of programming events and school workshops

Qualifications:
Be able to present topics to various audiences

Be willing to learn interpretation techniques for the delivery of science-based presentations

Be open minded and willing to understand views from multiple perspectives

Have knowledge and experience working within Indigenous education

Qualifications for internship eligibility:
Must be willing to commit to the full duration of internship

Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada and be legally entitled to work in Canada

Must be a recent graduate from a college or university and has finished the school term prior to the start of employment (within 24 months of start)

Be unemployed or underemployed and not be fulltime employed (over 30 hours per week) while on the internship

This is an internship position financially supported by the Young Canada Works.
