Description

The Prince Albert Grand Council is accepting applications for a Temporary Full-time Community Justice Support Worker. This competition is open only to PAGC First Nation Members OR permanent employees of the Prince Albert Grand Council.

Successful applicants will work out of the Prince Albert office and provide services to James Smith Cree Nation and Sturgeon Lake First Nation and other areas as required in the event of temporary vacancies. Travel will be approximately 2 days a week to these locations with administration duties performed in Prince Albert office on other days.

Duties:

Under the supervision of the Prince Albert Grand Council Community Justice Worker Supervisor, the successful applicant?s responsibilities will be to:

-    Assist the Rural Supervisor perform their duties as well as to travel to PAGC communities from time to time to assist in program delivery in the event of vacancies of positions due to illness, maternity leave, training requirements, etc.
-    Plan, coordinate and conduct community information/education sessions
-    Coordinate the Alternative Measures Program ? ie:  referrals from the RCMP, Judge or Prosecutor.
-    Organizes & provides or facilitates mediation meetings, healing circles, sentencing circles, family and community conferences, community services work, etc.
-    Develops & maintains a positive working relationship with the justice system and with various community-based service providers.
-    Documents & records all work activities and submit reports as required.

Qualifications:

-    The successful applicant must have completed Grade 12 or equivalent combination of education and experience; must possess a Sask. Driver's license, transportation and willingness to travel.  Knowledge of and sensitivity towards Aboriginal cultures and traditions is an asset for this position.  
-    Ability to speak a First Nations Language would be an asset.
