Description

The sturgeon Lake First Nation requires a qualifies Director of Education with experience in school administration. Reporting to the Education Advisory Committee and Chief and Council, he or she will be a member of the school administrative leadership team.

Director of Education

Key Responsibilities:

Accountable to Chief and Council and the Education Advisory Committee and is responsible for the overall coordination and supervision of the activities of the Sturgeon Lake Central School and Post-Secondary and Adult Education in accordance with the vision, mission, values and beliefs upon which the organization was founded. The Education Director's broad duties include overseeing the administrative and organizational management, finances, program planning, reporting and evaluation, community engagement and communications, human resources management and development of the Sturgeon Lake Central School. Other duties outlined in the policy manual and requested by Chief and Council.

The successful candidate will possess:
-Bachelor of Education Degree and a minimum of a Post Graduate Degree in Education Administration or a Master's Degree in Education Administration or a related field of study.
-LEADS member OR be eligible for membership
-Minimum of five (5) years of educational administration experience at a senior management level
-Minimum of five (5) years of experience on financial budget management, in the excess of 10 million dollars
-Must have experience in First Nations Education
-Must be able to understand and maintain the Funding and tuition agreements
-Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, public relations and team work skills
-Ability to speak Cree would be considered an asset
-Knowledge and experience working with the Block System
