Description

Frontier College, a national, non-profit literacy organization, works with children, teens, adults and families who need help to improve their literacy skills. We work with a variety of community-based organizations to deliver volunteer-run, community-based programs across Canada.

With generous support from the Saskatchewan Community Initiatives Fund, the Comic Book Project Coordinator will design and deliver the Comic Book Project (a literacy and homework support program for children and youth, focused on comic books and graphic novels art and storytelling). This Project will take place at three community schools in Saskatoon core neighbourhoods and at the Saskatoon Friendship Inn.

This role requires superior organizational, time management and planning skills, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a variety of learning styles, solid communication and facilitation skills, the ability to create and maintain positive relationships with participants and the community, and flexibility combined with a positive attitude in a demanding and dynamic work environment. Knowledge and appreciation of comic books and graphic novels as a means of engaging learners and improving literacy skills is a definite asset. Artistic skill is not required, but creativity is essential.

Overall Accountability
The Comic Book Project Coordinator reports directly to the Regional Coordinator (RC) will work closely with other staff and volunteers inside and outside the main office and with our partnering organizations.
