Description

Prairie Branches Enterprises Inc. (PBE) is a non-profit, community based organization providing residential, day program and support services for individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. PBE is inviting applications for a Medical Consultant.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Development of Nursing Care Plans for Clients
     o    Develop a nursing care plan for referred  clients.
     o    Work with staff to implement the nursing care plan which may include helping the staff upgrade their skills
     o    Make recommendations for purchases or improvements to the board that will benefit participants and or staff
     o    Track and report progress in implementation of the plan to the board
     o    Provide guidelines for appropriately responding to client needs including but not limited to; when to call the provincial health line, when to call physicians, when to admit participant to a care facility or when to seek a referral

Work as a liaison between Prairie Branches and the health system
     o    This includes reviewing written materials from health care providers and assisting staff with implementation
     o    Making referrals to the health care system and lobbying for client needs.
     o    Monitoring health-watch alerts and making recommendations based on client needs
     o    Arrange flu vaccinations for participants
Be a resource for education of staff
     o    Work with Management and Program Coordinators to develop and implement any required staff training

QUALIFICATIONS

RN or LPN accreditation.
Experience in the health care or care giving field.    
Familiarity and desire to work with people with special needs.
Strong collaborative skills essential.
Experience with Microsoft office suite of products.
