Description

The Department of Geography and Planning, College of Arts and Science, University of Saskatchewan invites applications for a tenure track position in Physical Geography at the rank of Assistant Professor. This is a tenure-stream, Academic Programming Appointment (APA) at the rank of Assistant Professor that is primarily focussed on teaching and program delivery. Start date is July 1, 2017.

Applicants should have a PhD (or equivalent) in geography or a related discipline. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable capacity for high-quality graduate and undergraduate teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in physical geography. Administrative duties are required.

This new position will add a teaching-focused (APA) faculty member in physical geography who has the vision, time, drive, and expertise to contribute to the continued delivery and renewal of our undergraduate programming. Our vision is that this new APA faculty member, a physical geographer, will have expertise at the intersection of environmental management and science, and will possess the quantitative skills (e.g. GIScience, geostatistics, spatial modeling) and field research capabilities needed for the development of innovative, engaging, and practical experiential learning opportunities that will enhance our undergraduate programming in physical geography. We also anticipate that the new hire would expand professional development opportunities for our undergraduates through, for example, new and enhanced co-op learning initiatives with community, government, and industry partners to ensure student job readiness upon degree completion.
