Description

Bourgault Industries LTD a privately owned agricultural equipment manufacturer and a world leader in seeding and tillage equipment has an opening for a Senior Automation Engineer or Technologist at its corporate headquarters in St. Brieux Saskatchewan.

BASIC PURPOSE:  
    To increase the automation of the production processes in metal fabrication plants. Processes include; sawing, shearing, punching, pressing, machining, welding, painting, and assembly. This may include specifying purchased equipment, or designing and commissioning equipment built in house.
    Responsible for the execution of the detailed designs, not limited to preparing design criteria, engineering calculations, technical specifications, data sheets and reports and technical compliance, code compliance, checks and balances, in accordance with the project procedures.
DUTIES:
    Leading a small team of technical staff focused on automation setting priorities and schedules.
    Design and implementation of automated equipment or processes to improve safety, quality or productivity issues.
    Write and troubleshoot control programs for computers and PLCs used for industrial controls.
    Research, specify, and commission industrial robots performing operations from material handling, welding, painting, and assembly.
    Development of Preventative maintenance schedules, standards, and procedures on key pieces of production equipment.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
    Degree or technical diploma in one of the following: industrial instrumentation; electrical engineering; electronics engineering specializing in controls and automation
    Experience with industrial control equipment, robots (ABB preferred), PLCs and related programming languages, networks and other machine languages
    In-depth computer skills and 3D CAD experience (Solidworks preferred).
    Ability to design and create detailed wiring schematics
    10 plus years of experience with some supervision experience preferred
