Description

Sakimay First Nations is seeking an enthusiastc and dedicated team player to provide service to Housing & Public Works Dept.
Capital Projects Officer is a leadership position who reports to Housing and Public Works Manager or delegate.  Term position reviewed annually & subject to available budget.  Projects undertaken will be complex with multiple objectives to be achieved within a short period.  Will be responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating the five year capital planning process for 3 key areas.  Key areas include:  Community buildings & related infrastructure; new housing; and renovation of existing housing stock.    Establish a project work plan for the projects to be undertaken within each fiscal year of the five year period that includes all project planning elements and budget appropriations.    1. Journeyman carpenter certification or at least ten (10) years of proven construction/ project management experience.
2. Excellent working knowledge of the CMHC housing program.
3. Be professional, punctual, reliable, and dependable;
4. Working knowledge of work place safety legislation, contract law and administration privacy legislation and a demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality;
5. Excellent written and oral communication skills and the experience to effectively liaise with third party contractors, and project management team members;
6. The ability to operate a computer and be familiar with database software; Microsoft Office Suite; and MS Project;
7. The ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and possess excellent time management skills;
8. General knowledge of office procedures and familiarity with relevant office equipment;
9. The ability to take direction or work independently with minimum supervision;
10. Submit to a pre-employment drug screen prior to commencing employment; and,
11. Possession of a valid drivers license and a reliable vehicle.
