The Grand Coteau Heritage & Cultural Centre is the premiere cultural facility in the southwest, serving the artistic and cultural heritage aspirations of the 15,000 people in the region.  Offering heritage based research services, a natural heritage museum, an art gallery, displays from the 12,000 piece heritage collection and a community room, this two floor facility, which includes the local library, attracts thousands of visitors annually to exhibitions, events, workshops and other cultural activities.

Shaunavon's business district is very vigorous. The Town of Shaunavon has a very progressive and influential Chamber of Commerce. The active agricultural and oil industry has provided a positive environment for growth in almost all areas of the commercial sector. A strong diversified economy brings with it ample opportunity to succeed in small or large business. Shaunavon has a population base of over 2,000 and serves a market area of over 10,000 people throughout the southwest.

Reporting to the CAO, the Director of Economic Development and Culture is a senior position working with minimal supervision and is responsible for:
    Economic Development
    Administration of the care and conservation of the collections
    Budget preparation
    Supervision of staff and volunteers
    Program & Exhibit development
    Tourism
    Public Relations
    Grant Writing
    Fundraising

The ideal candidate will possess a solid knowledge of culture, economic development and tourism - supported by a post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field, administration, and three to five years managerial experience in a cultural or non-profit organization.  Combination of experience and education may be considered.  Basic knowledge of history of Shaunavon & area considered an asset.
