Full time Evenings (Term through September 17th, 2017)to start January 31, 2017
DVCs are responsible for the well-being and safety of the women and children staying at the shelter, for implementing services and programs provided by Transition House, maintaining appropriate client confidentiality, providing support counselling, advocacy, information, referral and transportation, assisting with household operations and maintenance, ensuring resident families protection and carrying out administrative functions. DVCs provide practical support to members of the community who are seeking safety or information. DVCs will work closely with all agency staff to promote client safety, empowerment, facilitate change and healing in an environment that is physically and emotionally safe. DVCs are expected to adhere to the Regina Transition House Values, Code of Ethics, and Guiding Principles.
Hours of work: 1:00 pm to 10:30pm; three days on-- three days off, plus staff meetings
Qualifications:
Experience working with women and children who have experienced abuse;
Sound knowledge of the dynamics of family violence, community resources, and client focused intervention;
Demonstrated skill in crisis intervention, assessment, and support counselling;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and professional demeanor;
Proven ability to work co-operatively and maintain positive relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors, volunteers, Board and community members;
Proven ability to model positive, constructive behavior and implement conflict resolution strategies;
Proven ability to effectively manage time and tasks, demonstrate flexibility and attend to diverse areas of need;
Proven ability to take initiative and work independently;
Must be physically fit;
Post -secondary degree in human service related field preferred;
Valid Saskatchewan drivers license and current First Aid certificate
