Job Description: Under the direction of the Head of Medical Genetics and the Manager Medical Genetics, the Genetics Counsellor participates in the coordination of a Genetics program involving screening and accepting patient referrals, preparation and follow-up of families for genetic assessment, assisting in genetic counselling in all genetics clinics; counselling, teaching and liaison with other related fields and professionals. As members of the genetics team, the individual participates in formulation and implementation of policies and procedures of the division.
Required Qualifications

Masters Degree in Genetic Counselling/Genetics
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Advanced communication skills
Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Advanced organizational skills
Ability to competently use computers and software applications as required by the position

NOTE: This is a Provincial Posting and is open to all HSAS members within the bargaining unit as per Articles 21.02 and 21.04 of the HSAS Collective Bargaining Agreement. First preference will be given to employees of the Saskatoon Health Region and its affiliated agencies.

Eligible for Membership in the Canadian Association of Genetic Counselors (CAGC)

This position is split 50-50 between the Metabolic Program at Alvin Buckwold Child Development Program, and Medical Genetics.

Knowledge of Metabolic Disorders, particularly PKU, would be an asset.

In a 3 week rotation: 14 shifts of 8.00 hours
