Description

Responsibilities: Develop and implement short and long term Strategic Plans for the incorporation of culture and language within FHQTC education program schools and education centers; Assist in the identification of resources in support of culture and language education and coordinate relevant professional learning and training opportunities to ensure culture and language is entrenched and reflected throughout the education program; Lead and oversee the completion of Language and Culture projects including; language apps/technology, traditional games, and holistic student supports; Research and establish culturally informed curriculum, instruction and assessment in support of a range of language learning according to needs (immersion/intensive); Support schools to establish family, community and Elder/knowledge keeper/life speaker advisory processes to guide culture and language development; Lead the development of locally-developed culture and language learning materials for school, home and community language acquisition and cultural literacy development.

Skills: Communication skills; impeccable record keeping skills, report writing, proposal development, project management and group facilitation skills; Strong interpersonal skills and public relations; Ability to work in a collaborative team setting within schools, communities and organization; Critical thinking skills; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and apply in culturally/linguistically sensitive ways.

Bachelor of Education required, Master's of Education degree is preferred.
