Description

Under the direction of the Director of Finance you must be a skilled Accounting clerk to perform a variety of accounting, bookkeeping and financial tasks.  Accounting clerk responsibilities include keeping financial records updated, preparing reports and reconciling bank on daily basis. process business transactions, like accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers and receipts. A successful accounting clerk should be familiar with all accounting procedures and have a flair for numbers.  Ultimately, the successful Accounting clerk will ensure that Carry the Kettle First Nations daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively.
Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:
    Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department
    Process business transactions, like accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers and receipts
    Maintain accounting documents and records
    Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings
    Reconcile accounts in a timely manner
    Manage the payroll remittances and year and reporting
    Enter/track/file all vacation requests, banked overtime and sick forms.
    Process enrollments/terminations and any changes to coverage and contributions; ensure that all payments, contributions and transfers are accurately processed and documented.
    Respond to employee inquiries in a professional and timely manner and assist employees in filing benefit claims, verifying coverage, as well as explaining their coverage/entitlement.
    Research, track and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies
    Inform Director of Operations and compile reports/summaries on activity areas
    Function in accordance with established standards, procedures and applicable laws
    Constantly update job knowledge
