Description

This position is responsible in providing technical, research, analytical, and information to the Health and Social Development department/secretariat with particular emphasis on child welfare, Jordans Principle, and other Social Development programs; to provide written documentation for briefings, updates, and forward planning.  Areas can include resource materials, legislation and policy.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent research, written and communication skills.
Employees in this classification use professional research principles and methods in planning, defining and conducting research projects, selecting appropriate techniques, and in directing the work of subordinates.  The work of the Researcher/Analyst III results in their research usually forming the basis for the development or modification of policies and/or programs, may involve supervisory responsibilities, requires more difficult and significant judgements and that proposals developed may require cooperation of and acceptance by First Nations and/or government.
QUALIFICATIONS Minimum requirement is a Bachelor of Education Degree from a recognized University. Candidates should also possess excellent research, writing and analytical skills with the ability to prepare comprehensive reports, options papers, briefing notes, and other documentation as required. In addition, experience working within First Nation Health and Social Development environment; knowledge and understanding of Saskatchewan First Nation organizational systems, structures and processes at the local, regional and provincial level is important, along with a good understanding and knowledge of Saskatchewan First Nations cultures and histories.
