Description

The Residential Caseworker will assist in development, modification, and evaluation of the residential program.

Duties
Provide stabilization crisis counseling
Provide incidental problem solving and emotional support to residents
Implements case plans and monitors success
Keeps abreast day-to-day operations
Ensures residents understand home guidelines/responsibilities
Develop house guidelines/responsibilities to support cooperative living
Maintains professional/ethical standards of life skill teaching in programs
Provides information and life skill support to clients
Role model/encourage/assist residents to practice self-help and non-violent problem solving skills
Assist in ensuring that programs are individualized, integrated and client orientated
Partner with local agencies to develop responsive support for residents
Provide advocacy services or teaches self-advocacy for clients
Provide emergency behavior management
Assist in developing emergency response plan for program site
Report accidents/injuries/illness and complete necessary reports
Report incidents of suspected child abuse to appropriate authorities
Assist in ensuring that safety, cleanliness and tidiness of the program site are maintained
Assist residents to develop personal safety plans for independent living
Assist in supporting residents in meeting their medical needs
Respond to injuries using First AID training
Maintain confidentiality
Ability to work irregular shifts
Understanding and commitment to the philosophy, goals, and objectives of JHSS
Some familiarity with problems and characteristics of disadvantaged persons
Understanding of government and community programs and facilities related to youth
Experience working in residential facility for at risk youth
Minimum one year in residential services

Education
University degree in relevant field
First AID/CPR
Valid drivers license
Suicide Intervention training
