Description

The Manager is responsible for supervising staff and operations at PWSS, and for working with the Board of Directors on staffing, development, community relationships, and ongoing conservation of the Little Brick Schoolhouse. A positive and outward-looking approach is required. The Manager reports to the Chair of the Board of Directors of Prairie Wind & Silver Sage - Friends of Grasslands.
The contract begins Mar 1, 2017 and ends Feb 28, 2018; it may be extended depending on funding. Hours are a maximum of 350 for the term of the contract or approximately 6 to 8 hours per week, though hours worked will increase during PWSS's summer open season and decrease in the off-season. The Manager normally works from home but some work at the Little Brick Schoolhouse, location of PWSS, is essential. Some availability during the day between early May and the end of September is essential. Some weekend and evening work may be necessary. A car may be required.
Hourly rate of pay is between $16 and $20/hour depending on experience.
The ideal candidate should have experience and knowledge in: leadership and staff supervision; museum and or retail/food service operations; building management; staff and customer relations; and/or demonstrable interest and ability to learn. Ability to support board members in grant writing and other related responsibilities is an asset.
Essential characteristics are initiative, flexibility, versatility, tact, tolerance, ethical behavior, ability to communicate well and build relationships with staff as well as a wide variety of stakeholders, and ability to priorize, plan and organize within a varied work environment. Applicants should be proficient with Microsoft Office and related Internet uses. Minimum education is grade 12; a university degree in a related field is an asset.
