Description

NIS Contractors Ltd. requires an HSE Coordinator to join our construction team. The HSE Coordinator reports directly to Management and is responsible for ongoing development, implementation and reviewing NIS Safety Program. The position will require a field/office ratio of approximately 30%/70%, or as required.

Responsibilities:
- On-going development of safety program, including annual review and audit
- Conduct employee orientations and on-site orientations for sub-contractors (as required)
- Conduct and follow-up of site inspections
- Reporting/Investigating incidents
- Chair the OH&S Committee
- Maintain knowledge of OH&S Acts and Regulations
- Assist office staff with HSE requirements for procurement and/or tendering, as required
- Maintain NIS company profile with ISNetworld

Qualifications:

- Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) certificate or diploma would be an asset.
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) status, or willing and capable to obtain within reasonable time period.
- A certificate of Auditor Status for Certification of Recognition (COR) would be an asset.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in construction industry.
- Working knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Experience in managing difficult situations regarding site safety.
- Experience with ISNetworld would be an asset.
- Familiar with WCB reporting standards and regulations.
- Ability to establish strong working relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
- Ability to work in a team environment and under pressure.
