Description

Under the direction of the Manager, Employment Services, you are responsible to facilitate the delivery of client services by performing clerical and administrative duties for management, supervisor and services delivery staff.  Individuals in Administrative Assistant positions may be assigned a combination of duties as per the job description. Knowledge of Simple CTS, iCARE, data entry and working with kite works is an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Good knowledge of the immigrant/refugee experience and the settlement process.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to clarify requests, deal empathetically and effectively with individuals under stress and negotiate disagreements.
- Strong computer skills including keyboard skills, word processing and data base applications.
- Fluent and literate in English, able to read and interpret regulations, guidelines and instructions; write simple letters for signature and give clear assessments both orally and written.
- Demonstrated ability to follow procedures and maintain financial, accounting and payroll records.
- Demonstrated skill in work accuracy and paying attention to details.
- Exceptional organizational skills; ability to take requests from several sources, prioritize work accordingly, work independently and work to deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to collect and report statistical information and prepare reports.
- Demonstrated effective listening skills.
- Good judgment, able to maintain confidentiality.

Education:

- Graduate of a post secondary program in business or administration and one year of work experience in an administrative support capacity, OR
- Post secondary training in business or administration and three years of work experience in an administrative support capacity.
