DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL
Approx. 20hrs/week: NIGHTS
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) demonstrates a commitment to community inclusion as you provide supports to the individuals living at this community residence. As a member of a Direct Support Team you will actively participate in team related responsibilities. You will be expected to foster team unity through effective communication, interpersonal relations and consistency in the application of practices, procedures, and protocols, in order to create a positive working culture and living environment where the highest level of care and services are provided to persons supported. You will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to the Vision, Mission, Values, and Service Principles of Christian Horizons, through the implementation of consistent behaviour support plans and protocols, and a person centered approach. Upholding the rights of people supported, promoting self-determination, and encouraging citizenship through community participation, is an essential focus of you responsibilities. You must respond calmly in all interactions with people, demonstrating patience, effective listening, respectful communication, and flexibility. This is a physically demanding environment that may involve frequent lifting, bending, turning, twisting & kneeling.
Requirements: DSW or equivalent; Current First Aid/CPR; NCPI; Valid Class 5 drivers license; Willingness to serve as part of the Self-Managed Work Team (SMWT) is crucial; Computer literacy; All required Christian Horizons training as per policy.
