Role:
The Category Analyst is responsible for managing a large portfolio of foodservice products as it relates to profit optimization, sales growth, and supplier relationships. In addition, this position is responsible for coordinating vendor participation in marketing events, management of performance of assigned suppliers, and introducing new and innovative products first to market.
Role Responsibilities:
Category management including: maximizing sales and offerings of Sysco Brand and high gross profit items; balancing SKU offerings; and ensuring ROI for slotting placement;
Develop, implement, and encourage product training programs for sales;
Negotiate and manage yearly local rebate programs;
Maintain a high level of communication with the sales team and provide category expertise/advice;
Work in conjunction with the Procurement Department on shared projects to increase efficiencies and ROI;
Work closely with the Merchandising Logistics Assistant to optimize freight income;
Develop and nurture strong vendor relations through daily interaction and business reviews with a focus on mutually beneficial activities for category sales growth;
Conduct market research to identify industry trends and market-relevant pricing;
Think outside the box in terms of growth opportunities and work towards providing innovative customer solutions with our vendor partners;
Challenge vendors on price increases and justification, and source alternate goods as required.
