Description

Part or full time support worker(s) to work in my home with my 10yr old, non-verbal autistic son during non-school hours.  My son has some medical needs as well as behavioural needs.  He has a seizure disorder, & uses a feeding tube. The candidate would also provide light household duties.
Candidate is passionate about helping, motivated by making a difference in the lives of others, dedicated to effective treatment programs, and a desire for continuous growth. Community outings and life skills acquisition are part of daily program. The programming is overseen by an accredited consultant in behavior treatment.
The position can be permanent part or full-time. We offer a hands-on learning opportunity with comprehensive in-depth training. Training wage is $12/hour, $18-20/hr and benefits upon completion of required competencies. We anticipate the arrival of an Autism Service Dog in the coming months.  
Hours of work are non-school hours (after school, evenings, weekends school holidays). Contact employer for details.
Qualifications
A University Degree is preferred but not required.
Work experience in related area an asset.
Ability to work independently, follow direction and make adjustments as needed with ongoing supervisory oversight.
Possess the interpersonal skills to be playful, enthusiastic and bring a high level of energy into the family situation; must also be assertive while demonstrating behaviour therapy in an isolated home environment.
Ability to read written treatment directions.
Has good writing skills to document behaviours.
Able to drive, possess a valid drivers license with good driving history and have use of an automobile to travel to and from the childs home and transportation of the child as necessary.
Current CPR & first aid training with proof of completion must be provided prior to start date.
