Position Overview:
As the Barley Agronomist on a 12 month term based at the malt operational facility in Biggar, SK, you will play an integral role in increasing and sustaining barley acres in Canada, which will in turn enable us to have a more cost effective barley footprint, work in coordination with Cargills crop input and agronomy divisions and liaison with chemical and seed companies to develop and manage a best in class agronomy program for our barely growers, and provide education to growers on good barley growing practices, providing agronomic support through the growing season and playing an active role in the development and introduction of new variety options that offer superior agronomic benefits.
Principal Accountabilities:
25% - Develop and manage a best in class agronomy program for barley growers
25% - Work with relative industry partners to enable Cargill Malt to have a proactive role in barley variety development in Canada
20% - Manage and deliver comprehensive agronomy services to help farm customers grow better crops
20% - Provide technical support and be an agronomic resource for the North American barley supply chain team
10% - Assist and support merchandising/Barley Supply Chain team in working with growers on our barley contracting options and execution
