Job Description: Camp Monahan is searching for an enthusiastic Senior Challenge Leader to assist with running the off camp canoe program for campers aged 14-15. This 10 day position is responsible for teaching campers the skills of trip planning, orienteering, packing, outdoor food preparation, canoeing, backpacking and the appreciation of low-impact camping. This position is for someone who has the ability to be ready to hop in a canoe and lead the campers to a successful outcome. Applicants should be 17 years+ and will have experience working with youth, nature and camping. Applicant is responsible for the safety and well-being of all campers during the trips. While on site, this leader will also work with fellow staff to positively guide the campers through all other camp activities and is expexted to fully participate in the camp experience including chapel, campfire, meals, group actvities and staff meetings. Skills/Assets:
- Practicing Catholic and/or comfortable with Christian teachings and practices
- High Five training an asset
- First Aid/CPR C an asset
- Swimming (Bronze Medallion) strong asset
- Canoeing experience required
- Outdoor education experience with fire-starting, shelter building and certifications such as a boater's license; experience working with children and a love of nature and camp life
