The Town of Watrous - Swimming Instructor

Summary
Reporting directly to the Pool Manager the aquatic instructor is part of the Watrous Swimming Pool team responsible for providing fun and educational swimming lessons. This position may also include lifeguarding depending on scheduling and availability.

Duties and Responsibilities
1.Assists in all areas of the pool operation as instructed by his/her supervisor in order to provide quality programming and a clean, safe, friendly, and inviting facility for all users.
2.Be trained in the facilitys Aquatic Safety Plan and know the emergency procedures of the facility.
3.Provide quality instruction to all classes according to training and as directed by the Pool Manager.
4.Find productive tasks to accomplish during breaks between classes including lesson planning, tidying, cleaning, maintenance, or other duties as assigned by the Manager.
5.Deal with public relations in a professional manner and direct patrons to the Pool Manager or Recreation Director if unsure of the situation.
6.Maintain order in the pool and take steps to avoid potential accidents.
7.Prevent accidents through the enforcement of rules and policies governing users of the facility.
8.Rescue and provide first aid when required, any person needing assistance.
9.Must report immediately in writing (on prescribed forms in manual) to the Manager, all injuries, accidents or incidents.
10.Assist with cleaning of facility including filters, pool deck, storage areas, change areas, etc.
11.Do regular pool tests to ensure proper water chemistry and inform supervisor of any changes that will affect the safety of the swimmers
12.Always act professional and maintain appearance as per predetermined dress code.
