Description

The 7 Sisters Garden Education Coordinator is a part-time seasonal position. The coordinator will be responsible for program administration, developing appropriate curricula, recruiting and directing volunteers, working with youth audience, and directing the spring tours and summer youth camps. This position includes gardening responsibilities in Learning Gardens and maintaining space conducive for educational activities.

Primary Purpose

The 7 Sisters Garden Education Coordinator works with professional educators, general public, interpretive tours, and youth to provide tours and garden-based education at the 7 Sisters Garden and Native Plant Learning Garden. This is an outdoor job that requires the ability to work in all natural conditions that do not threaten safety. The position will include the following accountabilities:
    Creatively develop, lead, and present garden, nature-based, and Indigenous Agricultural education programs for a variety of students and adults with support from knowledge keepers
Plan and maintain 2 educational gardens onsite.
Must be able to provide excellent youth behavioral management skills and compassionate redirection.
Plan, organize, and direct summer youth camps including with interpretive guide camp assistant(s).
Develop, maintain & update education program supplies and curriculum.
Conduct public Garden tours as required
Complete special projects as assigned by the Visitor Services Manager.
Recruit, train and schedule volunteers.
Work effectively and cooperatively with other departments and Wanuskewin Heritage Park staff.
Possibility of fundraising for the expansion and continuation of projects.
