EYES (Educating Youth in Engineering and Science) is a non-profit organization that exists to spark curiosity and develop lasting enthusiasm and interest in science, engineering and technology in children grades one through eight by engaging them in exciting, activity-based, fun-filled learning experiences. EYES reaches youth through in-school workshops, summer camps and community events.
Duties and Responsibilities
With other instructors, deliver exciting, engaging engineering and science workshops in southern Saskatchewan elementary classrooms during May and June.
Prepare exciting, activity-based, educational projects for the summer camp program.
In July and August, lead a group of campers through the EYES summer camp program.
o Function as a positive role model for campers as someone who is engaged and interested in engineering and science.
o Help campers develop scientific literacy and a sense of competency in science and engineering.
o Opportunity to be involved in the delivery of satellite camps in various locations in southern Saskatchewan in July and August.
Routinely work overtime hours as required
Attend the EYES staff overnight retreat in the first week of May
Qualifications
Completion of at least one year of post-secondary education.
Background in engineering, science, or education is preferred.
Strong organizational skills
Experience working with children/youth
Willingness to improve ones background knowledge of scientific concepts
Expertise in aboriginal education is an asset, but not required
Valid Saskatchewan Drivers License
Local Candidates
Group Interviews will be held on Saturday, March 11.
Individual Interviews will be held on Saturday, March 18.
Out of town Candidates
Submit a short video (2-5 minutes) performing and explaining a science demonstration to a grade four audience submitted on March 11.
