The College of Law has entered into an agreement with Nunavut Arctic College and the Government of Nunavut to provide legal education to a single cohort of students in Iqaluit, Nunavut over a four-year period.
Reporting to the Head of the Law Library, the appointee responsibilities will include:
Providing service and support to the faculty, staff, and students of the Juris Doctor Program in Iqaluit, Nunavut. This will involve building strong relationships with the cohort of students, developing and delivering information, research instruction and instructional materials, and providing in-depth research support. Regular travel to Iqaluit is an expectation.
Assisting the Law Librarian supporting the College of Law with the development of collections and information resources to support the Nunavut Law Program
Providing service and support to the faculty, staff, and students of the University of Saskatchewan in another area. This will be based on the needs and priorities of the University Library and the skills/interests of the successful candidate.
An ALA-accredited Master of Library and Information Science degree or equivalent is required as is legal research experience, including familiarity with Canadian and international legal research sources. A law degree and experience working with Indigenous peoples, specifically with the Inuit population, are highly desirable.
