Central Urban Metis Federation Inc. requires a Community Economic Development Manager to oversee new and existing business ventures. The ideal candidate will engage and participate in business development, strategic planning, proposal writing, and budgeting. The successful candidate will hold a University Degree or College Diploma in Commerce/ Economics /Business Administration/Business Management OR a combination of business education and at least 5 years related experience. Aboriginal ancestry and an understanding of Metis culture is considered an Asset, Ability to identify and promote community economic development initiatives, Effective verbal, presentation and public speaking skills, Excellent customer services skills & telephone etiquette, Previous experience in strategic planning would be considered an asset, Experience preparing business plans is considered an asset, Previous experience in forecasting is considered an asset, Proven ability to work independently, Previous negotiating experience with industry, lending institutions, and government agencies, Proficient and well versed in the Microsoft Office suite, A knowledge and understanding of accounting software, Ability to work well with a team, Excellent writing and communication skills, Valid drivers license and own transportation
Duties: Manage and oversee CUMFI's existing business ventures, Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, professional service providers, and stakeholders, Identify and pursue new business opportunities, Develop various types of proposals (including funding proposals), Seek out investment sources and potential business partners, Develop strategies to further economic and business development goals, Develop and implement community engagement strategies (with a focus on social media), Represent CUMFI at business and economic development meetings and events, Other Duties as assigned
