Description

The Autism Resource Centre is seeking a temporary, full-time YMCA Inclusion Camp Director for 2017.

QUALIFICATIONS:
    Degree in human services field including but not limited to: Social Work, Psychology Education, Kinesiology or Nursing.
    Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as well as experience in the area.
    Applicants must have excellent communication skills.
    Adaptable and energetic personality to keep up with the demands of the client and the schedule of events.
    Planning and organizational skills.
    Able to problem solve, and come up with strategies for the individuals who have autism and provide feedback and support to other staff in the camp.
    Experience supervising staff.

DUTIES:
Organize and oversee Inclusion Camp and ensure a safe and productive summer camp experience.
Assist in the hiring and training of Inclusion Camp staff.
Complete intakes with the families and individuals that are registering for camp.
Attend and facilitate training sessions and staff meetings.
Ensure client safety by following the policies and procedures during all program activities.  
Maintain a level of professionalism, at all times especially in the manner in which you address clients and colleagues, your appearance, and behaviour.
Communicate with parents and teachers to develop appropriate camp goals for each camper.
Work alongside the Autism Resource Centre Assistant Director to plan each days activities prior to camp beginning.
Problem solve and assist when a child needs assistance through out the camp.
Research, create and use effective tools for individuals with autism spectrum disorder, for example: visuals.
Be a strong leader, mentor and role model for all campers, staff and parents.

TERMS:
1. Requires a consistent commitment to working from May to September.
3. A Criminal Record Check is required and needs to be submitted before start date of employment. First Aid and CPR B Certification is recommended.
