The Autism Resource Centre is seeking a temporary, full-time YMCA Inclusion Camp Assistant Director for 2017.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Working on or completed degree in human services field including but not limited to: Social Work, Psychology Education, Kinesiology or Nursing.
Interest in and knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as well as experience in the area.
Applicants must have excellent communication skills.
Adaptable and energetic personality to keep up with the demands of the client and the schedule of events.
Planning and organizational skills.
DUTIES:
Assist to plan, organize and facilitate Inclusion Camp and ensure a safe and productive summer camp experience.
Assist in the training of Inclusion Camp staff.
Provide assistance and support for the administration of the program with the Directors of camp.
Aid in the training of staff.
Ensure client safety by following the policies and procedures during all program activities.
Maintain a level of professionalism, at all times especially in the manner in which you address clients and colleagues, your appearance, and behaviour.
Provide assistance and support to camp staff during the execution of camp activities while upholding the safety and well-being of all campers.
Plan, coordinate and implement activities that help promote social development, personal development, recreation and nutrition in youth.
Problem solve and assist when a child needs assistance through out the camp.
Research, create and implement effective tools for individuals with autism spectrum disorder, for example: visuals.
Be a strong leader, mentor and role model for all campers, staff and parents.
TERMS:
1. Requires a consistent commitment to working from May to September.
3. A Criminal Record Check is required and needs to be submitted before start date of employment. First Aid and CPR B Certification is recommended.
