The Saskatchewan Association for Community Living is a vibrant not-for-profit organization providing advocacy & support for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The SACL is seeking a Community Inclusion Consultant for the Regina and South Saskatchewan region to ensure that citizens of Saskatchewan with intellectual disabilities are full, active & valued members of society.
Duties:
Provide advocacy & support to individuals with intellectual disabilities & their families.
Engage with individuals & their families to identify needs & support requirements.
Support & consultation to the community including government, the education system, professionals, & other stakeholders to provide information about best practices & opportunities for community inclusion.
Participate in committees, public awareness presentations, training events & other activities.
Make recommendations for systemic changes (process & policies) across service delivery for people with intellectual disabilities.
Engage with government & community stakeholders to provide research that supports the establishment of community inclusion as a best practice.
Requirements
Post-secondary education in the Social Sciences &/or significant experience working for a non-profit organization.
Excellent written & verbal communications skills.
The ability to work independently within a team toward organizational goals.
A valid drivers license.
A criminal record check including a vulnerable sector check.
Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities & their families as well as navigate complex service systems (Health, Justice, Social Services).
