Under the direction of the Counsellor Coordinator, the Camp Counsellor is responsible for the safety and enjoyment of campers at all times.
Duties Include:
- Providing personal care to campers with physical and/or intellectual disabilities ages 6 to over 65
- Creating an environment in which campers can experience emotional growth and development
- Ensuring campers have an enjoyable vacation through various program areas
- Documenting and reporting relevant information regarding the campers health and safety; includes camper reports
- Maintaining cabins and surrounding area in a neat and orderly fashion
- Under the direction of the Camp Nurse, may be responsible for assisting with prescription and non prescription medication to campers
- Other duties as specified by the Counsellor Coordinator
Qualifications:
Education:
- Grade 12 or equivalent (must be available May to August)
- Post-secondary students (must be available May to August)
Skills:
- Ability to work with people with varying abilities
- Effective interpersonal, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Oral communication skills
- Positive attitude
Final candidates:
- Are required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search at their cost
- Have an opportunity to receive course credits for the Disability Support Worker program at Sask Polytech
