Description

Roles and Responsibilities: Oversight of the counselling programs in all nine (9) MLFN schools.
- Support counsellors in dealing with emergent student needs as they become apparent through the counselling process in all nine (9) MLFN schools.
- Meet provincial requirements in regards to policy implementation, professional regulations, & code of ethics.
- Be responsible for planning for crisis intervention & threat assessment ? including the training of counsellors.
- Recommend & facilitate professional development activities for the nine (9) MLFN career & guidance counsellors.
- Coordinate the MLFN career & guidance counsellors to ensure consistency in the application of the MLTC Office of Education career & guidance counselling program.
- Provide administrative support for the Career Cruising Program; assist MLFN schools in organizing career oriented events; support classroom teachers in the delivery of career education
- Assist administrators & teachers in researching and implementing best practices in the delivery of guidance & career counselling.
- Work collaboratively with Clinical Team Support Workers to develop a wide variety of programs for all MLFN schools.
Qualifications: Must be registered with one of the following organizations: CASW, SASW, CCPA, CPA.
- Sound knowledge on basic counselling practices; able to maintain strict confidentiality; & able to demonstrate strong ethical judgements and/or decisions.
- Excellent supervisory skills; communication skills (Verbal/Written); networking/relationship building skills; decision making skills; professional judgment skills; & organizational/time-management skills.
- Knowledge of & sensitivity to First Nations culture & language and cross-cultural issues; ability to speak the Cree and/or Dene languages will be considered an asset.
- Willing to travel to the First Nation Communities; work within a team setting & independently.
- Salary is commensurate with qualifications & years of experience.
