Description

HOURS: Majority of the hours will be Monday to Friday 4-6PM. There are additional hours but they will be discussed further if interviewed.

The person selected for this position will help in the planning and coordinating of the after school program. You will be asked to lead, chaperone and monitor to ensure safety and a positive experience for neighborhood youth aged from 5 to 17.This will also include some week nights.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Plans, coordinates, and participates in a variety of arts and craft and sports related activities for the neighbourhood youth; organizes activities and promotes participation;

Monitors the after school program to ensure safety of participants; instructs youth in proper methods for operating tools and equipment; monitors and directs behavior at all times to ensure compliance with Centre rules;

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT:
Provided on site by Centre staff

Required Experience:
Knowledge of arts and craft and sports techniques;

C.P.R. and first aid/AED training would be an asset;

Ability to communicate effectively with youth and Centre staff;

Ability to ensure the safety of the after school participants;

Food Safe is ideal but not mandatory at this time.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to neighbourhood youth and Centre staff;

Ability to meet attendance requirements;

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
CPR and First Aid/AED Certification (would be an asset)

Additional Comments:
Must provide a criminal record check before commencing employment.
