Duties and responsibilities:
Provide group and individualized support in the areas of life skills, volunteer skills, work skills, and overall quality of life.
Duties include:
- Provide specific support to individuals who participate in the Day Program. This includes on site activities, community based activities, volunteer and/or work placements; including transportation when required.
- Provide quality and individualized programming for all individuals to align with their Person-Centered Plans.
- Maintain participant documentation according to agency standards including completion of incident reports, contact records, and file recordings.
- Contribute to team meetings and take on a leadership role in supporting planned outings and activities.
- Interact with individuals to create meaningful relationships based on mutual interests.
- Promote independence, self-esteem, and inclusion in the areas of self-care, communication, recreation, socialization, and volunteerism.
- Assist participants with personal care to promote good hygiene when required.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Disability or Rehabilitation Support Worker Certificate and/or related training and experience
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and access to a working vehicle
- Valid First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or willingness to obtain within three months
Experience:
- One year experience in related field
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work effectively with individuals with varying abilities, co-workers, and community partners
- Open minded, creative, effective time management, and problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
