Description

The Tisdale Recorder and the Parkland Review seeks a dynamic and enthusiastic reporter to serve two dynamic and enthusiastic newspapers.

The Recorder is a subscription-based newspaper that prides itself in covering the local issues in a way that cant be found anywhere else. The Review is a free regional newspaper that regularly punches above its weight to provide local news to the citizens of northeastern Saskatchewan.

You would be based in Tisdale, a town of 3,500 that features a hockey arena, curling rink, golf course, walking trails, performing arts theatre and outdoor pool. Within an hours drive theres a ski hill, forests and world-class fishing lakes.

From there, you would be responsible writing stories on events like hockey games, town council, community celebrations and anything else thats newsworthy in our communities. This variety gives a great chance to hone your journalism skills.

The successful candidate will:
Write and edit an average of 8-10 stories for print on a weekly basis.
Shoot still photos that are eye-catching, clear and engaging.
Generate interesting stories and feature ideas.

We would consider these qualities assets:
Layout experience with Adobe InDesign
An interest in sports and/or agricultural reporting.

Qualifications:
A journalism degree, diploma or equivalent experience.
A reliable car and a valid drivers license are essential.
Must be willing and able to work independently and in a team.
Knowledge of CP style.
Must have your own DSLR camera and knowledge of its functions
Weekend and evening shifts are required as part of this position.
